Our mobile learning lesson (Malay language)

The following are the documents and presentation used during the mobile learning lesson for a Malay language lesson involving primary 6 pupils of mixed abilities.

Pupils will view this PowerPoint presentation in their classroom before setting out on their adventure.





After reaching their 1st location, pupils will need to open the following PowerPoint presentation which can be found in the thumbdrive in the sun box.





Pupils will then need to follow the instructions from Troy and Sharpay in order to complete all tasks. When pupils have reached a particular location, they will need to look for an object or item which will help them to complete their task. After which, pupils will complete their tasks which can be found in their 2nd UMPC that holds their electronic worksheets. Below are the electronic worksheets found in their 2nd UMPC.

International Conference on Educational Technology (ICET 2007)

For the benefit of fellow participants of ICET who stayed on for Temasek Primarys presentation on UMPC: Mobile learning through adventures with cartoon characters, I have uploaded our presentation slides. You may use them for your own reference or for sharing purposes with your fellow colleagues. If you would like to have a copy of the video on our lesson, do send us an email. Use the clues below to help you guess the characters from the various fairy tales.

Projek CME (Sivik dan Pendidikan Moral)

Seperti yang telah saya katakan pada hari Isnin, kamu semua perlu melaksanakan projek CME. Tajuk projek kamu ialah 'KENANGAN MANIS DI SEKOLAH RENDAH TEMASEK'.

Kamu perlu menggunakan powerpoint untuk tugasan kamu ini. Jangan risau tentang gambar-gambar. Kamu boleh masukkan gambar-gambar ke dalam powerpoint kamu apabila saya pulang ke sekolah nanti. Di bawah adalah perkara-perkara yang mesti ada dalam powerpoint kamu.

Year 2007 - Tanda Baca (Punctuations)

A PowerPoint presentation that was prepared for a task based language teaching lesson for my P2 pupils. There is also a similar lesson on punctuation for p5 which I've done. This so to say that in task based lesson through the use of cartoons, it is alright to use the same cartoon and task during lesson preparation. The most important thing to note is to make the content suitable for the level you are teaching.

Year 2007 - Kata Arah (Prepositions)

A task-based lesson using cartoons to teach prepositions in Malay language. This powerpoint was shared with the Malay department teachers in my school and also other in-service teachers during a workshop which I was invited to present at by my NIE lecturer. Below are details of the workshop:

Year 2007 - Fractions

A cute lesson on fractions for p4 with the 3 little pigs. This lesson was observed by my school's principal and vice principal.

Year 2007 - Kata Adjektif (Adjectives)

A lesson prepared for an observation by my school's principal and reporting officer. A good lesson for my p2. The task for my pupils was to draw out the mystery animal. Like I expected, every group drew the mystery animal differently although all of them did follow the guidelines given. It was great at there were several teaching moments which I made full use of.

Year 2007 - Decimals

An interesting lesson to teach decimals. This lesson links pupil's authentic experience in boarding the MRT. On top of that, it also encourages critical thinking towards the end of the lesson. If Dr. Douglas Edge from NIE praised this lesson idea, I guess this is a good lesson after all! :) hehe!

Year 2007 - DeepaRaya Celebrations

A powerpoint presentation that I prepared for the Malay and Tamil Department in conjunction with the Deeparaya celebrations during early 2007. There is also a short quiz sesson carried out. Kids had fun as there was also voice over done for the powerpoint. This powerpoint also showed collaboration between the 2 races (Malay and Indian community). Glad to have shared this with the whole school.

Year 2006 - Cara-cara mengawet makanan (Food preservation)

This is a lesson prepared for my first observation by my supervisor for second practicum. Alot of effort was put into this lesson as theres also a video and many other props which I brought along for my pupils. This lesson was carried out on 7 March 2006. This is my favourite lesson by far. My p5 pupils loved it. Definitely worth the effort put it. This lesson also includes of scientific facts. Kinda in line with TLLM. hahaha!

Year 2006 - Buah-buahan tropika (Tropical fruits)

This lesson was prepared in line with a topic in the P5 Malay language textbook on tropical fruits. By chance, I managed to find a few pictures of Spongebob with fruits. Really cute. This lesson also received praises from my School Coordinating mentor and Cooperating Teacher during my 2nd practicum. Lesson was carried out on 22 March 2006.

Year 2006 - Piramid Makanan (Food pyramid)

A lesson prepared for my P5 practicum class to teach on the food pyramid in Malay language. Seems like a science lesson coz theres some scientific facts which my pupils had to chew on. Definitely one of my favourite lessons.

Year 2006 - Peribahasa (Proverbs)

A lesson prepared for my external moderator during 2nd practicum. Definitely worth all the effort. I got a Distinction. I guess I was able to win over the moderator by using SCAMPER. She was my lecturer back in NIE and she taught on SCAMPER. So I guess, she was really pleased to see that I applied whatever that she taught in my lesson. Hahahahahaha!

Year 2006 - Kata Sendi Nama

A PowerPoint presentation that was prepared for a task based language teaching lesson for my P3 pupils during my second practicum. However, I've also carried out this lesson with my P2 students this year. It was great as I used the classroom management system.

Year 2006 - Penjodoh Bilangan (Collective Nouns)

This lesson also comprises of a few station games to teach collective nouns for p5. Lesson was carried out on 10 March 2006. Simple but there were alot of teaching moments which made my pupils think critically. Good lesson I must say.

A task-based lesson prepared for my P5 pupils during my 2nd practicum to teach suffix and prefix in Malay language.

Year 2006 - Kata Sendi Nama

A lesson for P5 explaining concepts in Malay language. Cute powerpoint but very simple. Task was only to complete activity book. Then again, its still a task. hahaha!

Year 2006 - Imbuhan Akhiran -an (Prefix/Suffix)

A task-based lesson prepared for my P3 pupils during my 2nd practicum. Actually on the actual ppt, the jigsaw pieces will disappear one at a time to reveal a word which my pupils have to add the suffix to. However, due to the limitations of this site, you can't see them.

Year 2006 - Frasa (Phrases)

A lesson on phrases in Malay language prepared for my P5 pupils during 2nd practicum. Simple but effective. This lesson was carried out on 5 April 2006.

Year 2006 - Imbuhan Apitan ke-...-an (Prefix/Suffix)

A lesson on another aspect of prefix/suffix for p5 in Malay language. Simple lesson with simple task. I realised that corpse bride is not a good and fun cartoon to use. It's dull. This lesson was carried out on 20 March 2006.
